Cult Persuasion Techniques

Posted on July 31st, 2010

Studies reveal several techniques that particular cults perform to influence followers with their authenticity, which range from physical to psychological. Cult commanders and active followers employ a mix of these cult persuasion tactics to attract followers and grow their devotion.

A few typical physical exercises used by cults involve repetetive motion, body manipulations and hyperventilation. Conversely, psychological strategies consist of trance, hypnosis and guided symbolism.

Hyperventilation needs continuous over-breathing which causes carbon dioxide levels in the bloodstream to decrease. This particular physical activity produces respiratory alkalosis, the unnatural condition of elevated alkalinity of the bloodstream and tissues. In its milder levels, hyperventilation induces disorientation or faintness. However, more continuous over-breathing can cause anxiety, convulsion adn muscle cramps. Cults often make members perform constant loud screaming, chanting or singing to build this condition, which in turn they construe as having a spiritual encounter.

Likewise, constant swaying movements, assiduous clapping or nearly every repeated motion helps to alter a person’s general state of awareness. A simple spin will already develop dizziness; visualize the results of tenacious spin dancing and prolonged swaying. Group leaders both brand these motion effects as new levels of consciousness or proclaim these as ecstasy.

Right now there are also a number of physical body manipulation procedures executed in many cult groups. Based on former members of a cult, the leader would go from one participant to another then press on their eyes until eventually the tension in the optic nerve triggers these people to experience flashes of light. This kind of method is called “bestowing divine light.” The same cult members were habitually instructed to intently push on their own ears until they heard a buzzing or humming sound, that is construed as hearing the “divine harmony.”

In contrast, several other cult chiefs employ hypnotherapy along with trance to put followers into an altered state of awareness, causing them to be more compliant. Tactics that induce elevated levels of trance incorporate continuous meditation, singing, chanting and phrase repetition. In so doing, these cult leaders can sway their followers to perform just about anything, usually without these followers being conscious of the act.

To cut out supporters from their normal frames of reference and heave them to oblivion, cult chiefs also employ a variety of guided-imagery rhythms such as long in depth graphic stories that may take in the audience into a trance-like state making them more prone to suggestion and influence. Guided imagery is likewise found in yet another effective technique popular with therapy cults to regress people back to the agony and solitude of past events like childhood, tragedies and heartbreaks. This is typically portrayed in films or even performed live in a number of television programs.

These kinds of physical and psychological procedures have been in existence for a long time. Because of man’s constant desire for a greater degree of bliss, the art of persuasion will continue to be exercised for years into the future.

To Honor The Divine Feminine With Art

Posted on July 31st, 2010

divine feminine

On June 8, 2004 there was a rare Venus transit across the face of the sun with the planet passing between the sun and the Earth. No one alive on Earth had ever witnessed this event since the last pair of Venus transits took place in 1874 and 1882, a hundred and twenty-two years prior. On June 5-6, 2012 we can expect the pair to the June 8, 2004 transit to occur.. There was much speculation that this Venus passage would greatly affect the influence of the feminine energy on our planet. As we all know now, this divine feminine influence is much needed in our world today to offset the powers of greed, dominance and war so that we may begin to care more consciously for the well being of our planet, nature and one another.
Though women throughout history have always taken the lead in being the care takers of others, the planet and those less fortunate, I believe this transit did inspire many women to do and be more. Women making a difference do not always make headline news, but I can assure you they are out there creating positive change. Many more women now than ever before are stepping up to the plate in politics; traveling to impoverished countries; speaking out for living green, caring for the planet and endangered species; assisting less fortunate women and children globally and creating non-profit organizations to help every living being and creature. I am an artist, and my journey as a painter did not escape this Venus influence. It came to me in a rather unexpected way in the fall of 2004.
I had just moved out of town to a beautiful, secluded ranch outside Santa Fe, New Mexico in the high desert. The property came with a real working art studio that had been built by a well known woman painter here. Though I can make do painting in almost any space, I am always more inspired when I am able to work in a “real” studio space. I had been staring at a big blank canvas for days, and decided to take a long walk in the hills for inspiration. I walked a long way, and laid down in the shade under a Juniper to rest before heading back. I dozed off, and when I awoke, I was surrounded by five coyotes. Three of them were laying there very intently, one was sitting and the other was pacing restlessly behind me. I had never known of coyotes attacking or killing a person which kept me from totally flipping out. But then, there was always a first time. I didn’t know what to do. Do I even look them in the eye? Do I just say hello and then head for the hills? Or do I run like hell? I considered all the options. It didn’t appear that these coyotes were going to be leaving. It was going to be a waiting game. So out of nowhere, I started to sing. I had memorized many songs while singing and painting. So I started in with Eric Clapton and Layla, then Bonnie Raitt with Nick of Time and Angel from Montgomery and on down the line with songs from Everything But The Girl, Gregg Brown, David Gray, James Taylor, Beth Orton and Patty Griffin. I just sang my heart out, all the while keeping an eye on this restless coyote behind me. I have no idea how long I sang, but suddenly the big coyote in front of me got up, approached me with a long, deep stare, then turned away and off they all went…just like that. I guess I was a bit in shock, and I ran the whole way home. I dug through my kitchen cabinets to find a half bottle of Tequila, and spent the next few hours nursing that in the hot tub.
That night I had a dream, and saw a painting where I was singing to the coyotes. At sunrise I was in the studio with brush to canvas. “She Sings To The Coyotes” was born. I left shortly after finishing that painting for a trip to Ireland with my two sons and a sister. I went back to my roots, and a family reunion with relatives I had never met. I had a long discussion with an Irish relative about Druids, Pagan rituals and Celtic traditions and particularly the role of women in all these. I told her my coyote story, and she commented on what a feminine response I had to what was a potentially threatening situation. And that conversation opened the door to a journey I would take into the sacred feminine through visionary art.
I returned home, and began a series of paintings to honor the feminine. By June 2005, I had completed thirteen large paintings on canvas. It was nothing short of a miracle journey that took me into uncharted territory with dreams, visions and healing of my own divine feminine. And I was not alone.
My coyote friends made regular appearances at my house. I came home from town one day to find them all congregated in my front yard, one of them even laying on the lounge chair. At night they would serenade me outside the bedroom door, and by day they would lounge among the rocks outside my studio. I really did not not know what to think. Maybe they wanted me to sing to them again? So I would play the songs I had sung to them, and sing along so they could hear me with the studio door wide open. My coyote pals came and went for months until my son came with his big labrador, and they soon disappeared for good.
I called my new series of paintings a Tribute to Venus. I guess you can even call it Venus art. I have since added five more paintings to the series since 2004…and “since a work of art is never a finality,” said the painter Robert Henri, ” but always the promise of more to come,” I am certain there will be more.
I will continue to honor the divine feminine through art, especially in these uncertain, challenging and changing times we are in. If we are going to survive and evolve as a species on this beautiful planet, we need the energy of hearts and minds to be compassionate yet full of faith and strength. We are seriously out of balance on the planet, and the return of the feminine divine gifts can help us create a new vision for all. For all women have been silently singing their songs and prayers for all life for a long time…and I know for sure the coyotes have been listening.

Understanding Foundation Options - Shed Construction

Posted on July 29th, 2010

home buyer Foundations are a key component of shed construction. They can be the difference between a building that will last for years, and one that will last for decades. This article will provide you with an overview of the common foundation types.

While the type of foundation you need depends on the shed’s design and intended use, moisture is one factor you need to consider with any foundation. If the soil tends to stay wet or you have no alternative but to build your shed in an area that collects rainwater you’ll need to lay a gravel base under your foundation.

There are five common types of foundations:

juegos Slab Foundations

The king of all foundations is the right fit in areas plagued by high winds or if your shed floor needs to take a lot of abuse. Since the concrete slab functions as both the foundation and the floor it can handle jobs wood floors can’t. Slab foundations are ideal when welding & grinding work, chemical leaks, or heavy vehicle storage is possible.

Most construction experts recommend hiring a contractor to pour this type of foundation.

Treated Timber Foundations

Timber foundations are built with layers of 4×4, 6×6 or 8×8 treated lumber that have been cut on the ends with a half-lap joint. They are then stacked on the ground and nailed together with spikes.

This 4-sided box can then be filled with a variety of materials such as gravel, dirt, or concrete to build the floor. It can also be covered with 2 x 6 decking boards before adding the walls.

home building Skid Foundations

Skid foundations are constructed by laying two pressure treated timbers (4×4, 6×6 or 8×8’s) side by side and building the shed floor on top. They are easy to build, inexpensive, and have been used for hundreds of years. If your ground isn’t level build up low areas with pieces of treated 2×4.

Concrete Footings

Concrete footings are often used for larger sheds that won’t sit on a concrete slab. If the ground freezes in the winter, ice can lift shallow footings and damage your shed. Your local building inspector will have information on the depth the footing will need to be below the frost line to support the weight of the shed.

Before digging, call your utility company and have them mark buried cables or gas lines. It could save your life!

If you chose this type of foundation be ready for some hard work. Once you have all the holes dug you’ll want to order premixed concrete to fill them. You will save a ton of time and your back will thank you.

How are Plastic Slip Sheets used with Post-Tensioning?

The plastic slip sheets are installed directly below the slab, or between the slab and the bearing surface. They work to allow the tendons to move the slab smoothly across the ground. Without the slip sheets, the tendons would not have a flat, even surface across which to move. The tendons must be able to move easily across the ground in order to correctly stress the steel, as this is the only way in which the concrete will be compacted in order to avoid shrinkage and cracks.

If builders were to neglect to install plastic slip sheets - or if they were to install them incorrectly - the slab would resist moving, which would prevent the post-tensioning process from being successful You can be published without charge. Cycladic Sculptures In The Greek Islands - Ancient Greece Art

Posted on July 28th, 2010

mortgage refinance Cycladic sculptures are thousands of years old and yet look eerily modern. A face with no facial features, except the nose, is not exactly how we think of ancient Greek art. Cycladic art came to prominence during the twentieth century. Unfortunately that started a period of looting, which destroyed the possibility of putting the sculptures in any kind of location or archeological context. To this day we know very little about Cycladic art. A measure of its growing importance is the existence of the Cycladic Museum located in the heart of Athens, Greece.

juegos The Greek islands of the Cyclades are located to the South East of Greece and to the North of Crete in the Aegean Sea. There are more than two hundred islands approximating a circle around the most significant island Delos, the birthplace of Apollo, Greek God of music and light from Greek mythology and of Artemis, the huntress. The Greek name for the Cyclades is Kyklades, an obvious reference to a circle.

Real Estate During the period between 3200 and 2000 B.C. the small Cycladic islands in the Aegean became home to a flourishing culture. The most prominent craft in Cycladic culture was stone-cutting, especially marble sculpture. The abundance of high quality white marble on the islands encouraged its use for the creation of a wide range of artifacts. Among these, Cycladic Figurines are the most distinctive Cycladic creation because of the style, the great numbers in which they are found, and the significance they held for their owners. The majority of Cycladic Figurines show women, nude with the arms folded over the belly and the long feet, soles sloping downwards. We do not know whether they were meant to show mortals or deities, but probably symbolized the worship of the ‘Mother Goddess’. In this case, the figurines may have been conceived as representations of the Goddess, or companions to her. Many figurines have been discovered in relation to burials as the Cycladic civilization flourished and burials became more elaborate to reflect status.

There have been recent discoveries (in the last five years) of piles of buried and broken statues and pottery, as if the breaking of the statues was a feature of some unknown ancient ceremony. This ritualistic behavior appears to be centered on the island of Keros in the Cyclades. Also, hidden deposits of broken pottery and figurines have been found on islands around Keros, many fragments brought there from other locations. Why would the Cycladians do that? To what end? The mystery surrounding Keros, the Cycladians and their art deepens as archeologists sift through clues of human history and behavior.

The Spiral Jetty also contains an element of performance-based art which is absent in many forms of modern art. Other modern artists often worked in private and even kept their methods secret. The site-specific aspects of Earthworks and the momentous scales made them inherently public performances in spite of their characteristic isolated locations. Furthermore, the outdoor location of the Spiral Jetty emphasized the impact of natural forces and the temporality of art and life you can be published without charge. FSBO Many report that the career chosen adds to their sense of fulfillment in life as they are able to perform meaningful works and can be of service to many people. Perhaps they are musing over the notion of vocation.

I have chosen not to be a part of organized religion. I’d figured out that most of our religious beliefs came from our upbringing. This seems to have brainwashed us into believing we are better because were right and know for a fact, that we have chosen to belong to the right religion. What if were not right?

I want to ask you a question, do you think that other religions are wrong and yours is right? If you really spend some time and think about this, you will see, that your religion is not that different than someone else’s and neither was their upbringing. Most religious followers, belonged to the religion of their childhoodFollowing the teachings of Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed… One can definitely reach the higher portals of Religion but to become one like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed one needs to understand the core teachings of the realized masters themselves in a totally unadulterated form You can be published without charge.
